Austin, TX. Mostly remote, one Saturday that is extremely not remote.
We are the Austin Chicken Wing Festival. Once a year, several thousand people come to the Travis County Expo Center and eat wings until they have to sit down.
We are very good at the wings part.
We are, and we want to be honest with you here, not good at the internet. Our social media is a folder of photos and the vague intention to post them. It has been that way for three years. It is time to hire somebody whose entire job is to be funnier than we are.
We want the funniest chicken wing memes in Texas. We want the most fire chicken wing memes on the timeline. We want a local business account that people actually follow on purpose.
That is the job. That is the whole job.
What you would actually do
- Run the Instagram, Facebook and TikTok for the festival, from now through the first week of November.
- Post consistently. Not "when inspired". Consistently.
- Make the memes. Original ones. About wings, about Austin, about the specific psychological condition of caring deeply about wings.
- Shoot and edit short vertical video. Phone quality is fine. Funny is not optional.
- Come to the pre-show hype events at Austin wing spots and make content there.
- Reply to comments and DMs like a person, not like a brand.
- Tell us when an idea is bad. We will have several.
The one non-negotiable
Work the festival itself on Saturday, November 7, 2026, all day, on your feet, posting live. This one is not negotiable and it is genuinely a fun day.
What we are not asking for
- A strategy deck.
- A content calendar in a color-coded spreadsheet you will abandon in week two.
- Follower counts. We do not care how many followers you have. We care whether the thing you made is funny.
- A degree in anything.
- Experience "managing brand voice across omnichannel touchpoints". If that sentence came naturally to you, this may not be your role.
Who this is for
Somebody who already makes things that make their group chat laugh, and would like to get paid for it for a few months.
You should be comfortable being publicly funny under a business's name, which is a specific and slightly terrifying skill. You should be able to turn a bad photo of a chicken wing into something people send to a friend. You should be able to do that on a Tuesday when you do not feel like it.
If you have to ask why the job is called Meme Lord, we are probably not going to be a fit, and that is completely fine. No hard feelings. Go get some wings.
The real details, because you deserve them
- Pay
- This is a paid role. We are still settling the exact rate with our organizer, and rather than print a number we cannot stand behind, we will give it to you in our first reply, before you spend any more time on this.
- Hours
- Part-time, and it means what it says. It is not a full-time job in disguise and we will not pretend otherwise at the interview. The exact hours a week land in the same first reply as the pay. Expect it to climb in the two weeks before the festival and on the day itself.
- Term
- Seasonal. Starts as soon as we find you, ends mid-November after the post-festival wrap-up.
- Location
- Austin. Most of the work is from wherever you are. Pre-show events and November 7, 2026 are in person at the Travis County Expo Center.
- Reports to
- Jesse, who runs the festival and who will approve anything that could get us in trouble.
- After November
- Wing Fest is one event, but it is not the only thing happening around here. If this goes well there is real conversation to be had about other work. We are not promising it. We are telling you it is on the table.
